Hudson Bay Toad
I found this little critter in Hudson and ended up scratched and cut as I followed him into the undergrowth with the macro lens. I think I freaked out the locals in the process! This chap is a rarer subspecies of the American Toad (Bufo americanus) that has its roots in Canada. These toads hibernate by laying in the water until the temperate drops and they freeze, only to resurface again during the thaw.
